Jedox is an Enterprise Performance Management software which is used to create planning, analytics and reporting solutions. Its core is a cell-oriented, multi-dimensional in-memory OLAP database that has been especially designed for budgeting and forecasting, and data consolidation.

Jedox 2019.3 gives report builders even more freedom to create custom visualisations and charts for high impact reporting and analytics. This new version brings “most wanted” features as suggested by Jedox users, such as “search in combo boxes”, further improved export of web reports to Excel as well as enhanced connectivity for Qlik.
Analytics & Reporting: Powerful Visualisation and Search in Combo Boxes
Search the ultimate combo box
Jedox combo boxes enable users to select elements from a drop-down list. In new Jedox 2019.3 users can now search as they type within dimensions. A lightning-fast way to find an element compared to navigating along the elements tree. The new Jedox combo boxes also support large dimensions with over a hundred thousand elements (in-preview feature), making them the ultimate tool for building and navigating enterprise-level reports.
Create new visualisations
Jedox 2019.3 unlocks the full design power of the HighCharts library and gives users access to nearly unlimited options for visualisations and customised charts. Design your chart with a few clicks and simply select properties from the menu. Power users go to the ‘Advanced Properties’ dialog to access all customisation options available in the Highcharts standard library.
Control the data in your chart
Users will be delighted with the new capability that gives them control in arranging a data series from the bottom/left, or the top/right for stacked charts. This new functionality is straight-forward and easy-to-use as it works in the same way as stacked charts in Excel.
Export web reports seamlessly to Excel
Jedox users work seamlessly across the web (front-end) and in Excel spreadsheets. Jedox 2019.3 provides an even better export of web reports to Excel. If form elements such as combo boxes or buttons are hidden in your original web report they will also be hidden in your Excel file (.XLSX).
Make it faster to analyse data
In Jedox 2019.3 you can set a Default View for a specific cube for all users. This gives them a head start as the Default View is always pre-selected, making it faster for users to analyse their data. The Default View can be set in the “Paste View” dialog, or in Modeler.

Make modeling easy #1: DDM (Data-Driven-Modeling)
In the future, Jedox users will see increased automation of data modeling. With the Data-driven Modeling (DDM) feature users can build a database in minutes just by importing data from an Excel file. In the new Jedox Version 2019.3 the DDM engine recognises time dimensions, versions and measure types and automatically creates the correct settings in the time editor.
Make modeling easy #2: Predefined Subsets
Create standard subsets by simply ticking a box when you create a dimension. 2019.3 introduces two predefined subsets: “All” (all elements sorted by name, flat) and “Base” (base level elements only, sorted by name, flat). Naming and definition of predefined subsets can be adjusted and they are available for manually created dimensions (Modeler) as well as for automated dimensions loads in Jedox Integrator.
Data Integration: Enhanced connectivity for Cloud systems, SAP S/4HANA, QLIK and AIssisted™ Planning
Cloud-based systems (REST)
The Jedox integration for REST connections, a widely used standard for web services and other cloud and on-premises systems, has been upgraded for greater usability with a new connection “OAuthToken” that handles token authentication. You only need to specify the token once and it can then be reused in multiple REST calls, which simplifies your project.
2019.3 also allows more direct and seamless integration with 3rd party systems by introducing the option to use REST in a JSON/XML load. This means that Jedox can load data into any 3rd party REST compliant system directly (with appropriate security). This improves Jedox write-back capabilities, for example, to cloud-based ERP systems.
Many Jedox customers use their SAP ERP system as a data source to create financial planning, budgeting and forecasting. The latest SAP connector now officially supports the latest versions of SAP S/4HANA up until the latest S/4HANA 1809 release for use in multiple environments.
With Jedox 2019.3, the connectivity to Qlik BI systems has been extended further to allow more flexibility and scalability for large models in integrated Jedox+Qlik solutions.
Dimension type in Jedox Integrator
For new technology such as machine learning and artificial intelligence, the Jedox Integrator acts as the “data hub” for integration, pre-processing and mapping of data from cloud and on-premises sources. You can now already specify in integrator dimension loads the dimension type of the data e.g. time or measure, simplifying the analysis of the data model by web services such as Jedox AIssisted™ Planning.

It sets the benchmark for performance of large / complex models, as well as laying a strong foundation for our reporting evolution, Dynamic Views. Here are some highlights of the release.
In-Memory Database: Enhanced Performance Everywhere
We have improved performance on multiple fronts. With Autosave, Jedox now takes care of continuously committing in-memory values to the database filesystem. The save interval (set at a default 5 minutes) can be configured, is completely asynchronous (i.e. it does not stop or block Integrator process, user processes or security). The implication of this constant commit is that the journal state will always be around 5 minutes old. Combined with the ability to turn on dimension and cube binaries only (available since 2019.1), dramatically reduces start times and scheduled auto backup save times on large models.
Faster Login for SSO/ Azure Active Directory
On the server side, the ability to disable continuous fetching of SSO/AD groups means logging in for these scenarios are faster.
Optimized Rules and Selection on Large Dimensions
For users, rule optimization for simple formulas saves memory and speeds up calculations at run time. Performance optimization of web element selectors on large dimensions (read: millions of elements) fills a longstanding request by Jedox users. You can now display huge dimensions easily in element selectors, rule element pickers, Subset Editor and Paste Element dialogs. Note, that this is for web dialogs only. As we are gradually moving all excel dialogs to web dialogs, this will soon be available in Excel too.
New GPU Advisor
The GPU Accelerator Advisor now has a new home in Modeler and the extended functionality allows you to test your cube for suitability for GPU Acceleration. It gives a detailed breakdown of calculation and rules compatibility that can be exported to a file.
In-App Performance Monitoring (in preview)
Our new Request Profiler (in preview) gives an enterprise-level, forensic analysis of server requests per user which can allow for understanding performance bottlenecks around data and rule calculations. Once enabled for a specific user, it can show the slowest requests and analyze the hierarchical dependencies for performance analysis.
Jedox Integrator: From Best Friend to BFF
We’ve made a bunch of performance improvements in one of the most powerful components of the Jedox platform too: Jedox Integrator, . You can now use a new load type CubeSliceCopy to directly send a splashing command such as ‘copy [xx]’ or ‘100 like [xx] ‘. This has large performance implications, especially when moving data around in a cube (for example, copying actuals to forecast version).
When it comes to productizing a Jedox Integrator integration process, cleaning up loose ends can be tiresome. Not anymore. The Remove Unused Components feature displays all unconnected and orphaned components and allows you to select/deselect all or individually and delete in one step.
Finally, the new Show value feature in Variables allows you to see the current value contained within the variable, which is particularly helpful if the value is coming from Groovy or system settings and the current value is not apparent.
Dynamic Views: Exposing Views and Subsets
Giving easier access to cube views and dimension subsets is the first step on our journey to making Views a more powerful tool in reporting. Stored Subsets and Views have been available for a long time in Jedox; now we are making them easier to access. In Jedox Excel Add-in and Report Designer in Jedox Web, stored views can be accessed via a drop list on the toolbar. This allows users to review, edit and save Views quickly. Subsets can be accessed in Modeler and in the Element Selector, again making the change of perspective faster. In the Paste View dialog, “Show now” allows you to preview your selection before you paste into the spreadsheet, much like a pivot table.
Spacers in Picklists for Clearer Sorting
You now can have spacers within your subsets. In 2019.2 you have the ability to not only add spacers but sort the picklist in any custom order you want.
Spacers can be used in subsets, views and dynaranges, but only within the Picklist context.
Lastly, simple changes can sometimes have big impacts. Where possible, we are moving to single clicks for user interactions. You might have already noticed it in dynaranges in 2019.1. We now have single clicks for views (expand and contract), plus element selectors.

Meet our new Global Connections, which simplify system integration in Jedox with an overview of all data connections and centralised administration of granular user rights, connection details, and passwords. Once defined in the Global Connections manager, you can use these connections across multiple integration projects without specifying the details again. Plus, you can convert existing data connections from Jedox Integrator projects to the new Global Connections type with just a few clicks.
Also new in 2019.1 are enhanced cloud connections that make it easier than ever to integrate web services (REST) used by modern cloud-based applications. Additional security enhancements include unified password encryption for Jedox Integrator, plus separate Integrator project encryption keys for each instance.
One-Click Email Notifications: Quickly Communicate Scheduled Tasks to All Users
Jedox 2019.1 improves communication and collaboration between process admins and planners by offering a simpler way to create and schedule email notifications for scheduled actions. Process admins already use Jedox Scheduler to automate actions, such as distribution of standard reports in PDF format to a list of recipients or execution of data integration projects. Now they can create corresponding email notifications to send it to all users at a selected time with just a few clicks. Save time by using standard text blocks or create your own customised messages.
New “Previous Year” Business Logic and Rule Comments for Jedox Application Designers
In Jedox 2019.1, building and maintaining Jedox applications becomes even faster and smarter. Application designers can now use inline comments to document business rules for other users which help them understand the structure and logic of your custom rules and re-use them for their own purposes. Furthermore, there is a new business logic called “Previous Year” that quickly adds the stored actual values from the previous twelve months to the current period.
Improvements in Jedox User Experience for Jedox Planners
Jedox 2019.1 offers several enhancements in usability, providing a more enjoyable user experience for planners. These improvements include the option to hide cubes from users without access rights, updated error messages to ensure users enter values on the correct aggregation level, fewer clicks, and many more.

The November 2018 release, Jedox 2018.4, provides several enhancements for power users, admins, and planners alike to further simplify and integrate planning across the entire organization. Jedox Release Highlights
#1 Smart Data-driven Modeling in Jedox Web
The new data-driven modeling engine in Jedox Web lets you build a new app in just a few seconds. The new engine creates a multi-dimensional data model for you. Simply upload data from your ERP, CRM, or other source systems in an Excel file. Smart, data-driven modeling automatically recognizes dimensions and data types. You can modify the structure of your model using intuitive drag-and-drop functionality. When ready, the engine creates your data model in seconds.
#2 Offline Mode for Jedox Excel Add-in
Disconnect your Excel workbook from the Jedox In-Memory Database to make quick offline modifications and changes in your workbook with static values. When you reconnect to the database, your values are automatically refreshed, and you can keep working with real-time values.
#3 Report Designer: Labels and Hidden Sheets
Use the new form element label to enhance your reports with free-form annotations. A label can display either text or the result of a formula.
Hiding sheets in Jedox Web Spreadsheets allows you to add meta content that is not displayed for end users. Hiding is a reversible action that enables you to simplify the report design process and direct your planners to relevant content.
#4 Multi-cell Entry
For more ease of use in planning, budgeting, and forecasting, you can now add the same value to a continuous range of cells or to scattered cells with special key combinations, similar to what you can do in an Excel Spreadsheet.
- To add a value to a continuous range of cells, select one cell, then hold the SHIFT key and select the last cell.
- To add a value to scattered cells, select one cell, then hold the CONTROL key and select additional cells.
Once the cells have been selected, enter the value and press the ENTER key. The value will then be applied to all of the selected cells. You can also use input via a data validation list or the copy command.
#5 Administration: Scheduled backups, Native SAML Support and User-defined Password Policy
Now it’s simple to schedule a database backup in Jedox Modeler. The new feature Schedule Database Backupcreates a task in Jedox Scheduler. Access this functionality by right-clicking a database in Jedox Modeler.
Jedox 2018.4 natively supports the SAML standard for server-side and client-side authentication, using third-party identity providers, such as Azure Active Directory or Salesforce.
You can now set your own password policy, including password length and complexity/ pattern. Users will be asked to comply with your password policy in the ‘Change Password’ dialog.

Jedox 2018.3 Release – Cloud security, ease-of-use and connectivity reach new heights
Jedox 2018.3 is available as of today – Here is an overview of the latest features and updates.
As more and more customers adopt Jedox software as a service running in the cloud, reliability, performance, and – above all – security are essential aspects of the overall CPM solution. Customers want their data to be managed securely in the cloud, with access limited to authorized people only. They want a reliable data storage and a scalable service that can quickly adapt to the needs of the business. And customers expect to take advantage and integrate seamlessly with best-of-breed or new services as they become available.
Security and Compliance
We have put a lot of work in Jedox 2018.3, our latest release, to ensure that our software-as-a-service covers all the criteria above. Between 2018.2 and 2018.3 releases, we published a new web source for Jedox security and compliance information: https://trust.jedox.com. We were re-certified against ISO 27001 for information security and we passed the SOC 2 audit. SOC stands for “System and Organization Controls,” and includes a series of standards and internal control reports on the services provided by a service organization. It is designed to help measure how well a service organization, like Jedox, conducts and regulates its information in order to provide confidence and peace of mind for customers.
UI Refresh – More to come
2018.3 also brings a freshened-up UI with first updates to the usability and look and feel in Report Manager, Report Designer and the home screen. We added a new ribbon format, the Simple Ribbon, in the spreadsheet editor in Jedox Web. This UI option merges the advantages of a ribbon, such as grouping buttons by functionality, with those of a toolbar, such as using less space and preventing clutter. For casual users this provides more intuitive navigation. We also added easy access to recently used items. This is just the beginning of the Jedox UI refresh – stay tuned for more to come.
Salesforce Connector 2.0
Connecting Jedox with the eco-system and best-of-breed applications is a high priority for Jedox. In 2018.3, we significantly enhanced the integration with Salesforce CRM for simplified sales planning. A new bulk API and support for Salesforce Object Query Language, SOQL, for data retrieval has been added, as well as new writeback functionality for data load to Salesforce.
